The album is the sequel to 2 Chainz’s third studio album, ColleGrove, which was originally planned to be a Lil Wayne duet album; however, Wayne could not be co-credited due to label issues.
WELCOME 2 COLLEGROVE is highly anticipated by fans of both artists, as it marks the first time that they have collaborated on a full-length project. The album’s title is a portmanteau of 2 Chainz’ and Lil Wayne’s hometowns: College Park, Georgia, and Hollygrove, New Orleans, respectively.
The album’s lead single, “Presha,” was released on October 19, 2023, and it was produced by Bangladesh. The song is a hard-hitting trap banger that showcases the chemistry between 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne.
In a recent interview, 2 Chainz said that WELCOME 2 COLLEGROVE is a “classic album.” He also said that he and Lil Wayne have “great chemistry” and that they “feed off of each other’s energy” in the studio.
